Activating the Motor

Activating the motor allows you to drive.


This vehicle is equipped with a motor drive cut-off type side stand.

  • The motor will not activate while the side stand is lowered. Always put the side stand up before activating the motor.
  • The motor will stop if you try to use the side stand while the motor is running.
  • NOTICE

    If the vehicle is over-turned, you must first turn the power switch to the (Off) position and then inspect the vehicle carefully.

    This vehicle is equipped with a Honda SMART Key system. Always keep Honda SMART Key on you when you ride the vehicle.


    If the motor of this vehicle is stopped while the power switch is in the (On) position, authentication will be disabled after a certain amount of time or if you leave the authentication range. Reactive the motor by performing step c - e under the activating procedure.


  • Place the vehicle on its centre stand.
  • Lock the rear brake lock.
  • The motor will only activate when the brake lever is squeezed.
  • Turn the power switch to the (On) position.
  • Check the PUSH START indicator is flashing.
  • If the PUSH START indicator is not flashing, the motor cannot activate.
  • When the PUSH START indicator does not flash

    ED, PH, TH type

    II ED, II TH, II V type

  • While the throttle grip is completely closed, press the motor start/reverse button.
  • When the motor activates, the READY indicator comes on. You can now drive your vehicle.
  • Release the motor start button as soon as the READY indicator comes on.
