Inspecting the Rear Brake Lever Freeplay

  • Place the vehicle on its centre stand.
  • Measure the distance the rear brake lever moves before the brake takes hold.
  • Freeplay at the tip of the brake lever:
    10 - 20 mm (0.4 - 0.8 in)

    Freeplay

Check the brake cable for kinks or signs of wear. If necessary, have it replaced by your authorised dealer.

Lubricate the brake cable with a commercially available cable lubricant to prevent premature wear and corrosion.

Make sure the brake arm, spring and fastener are in good condition.
