Charging the High Voltage Battery
You can charge the high voltage battery using a wall outlet (Mode 2 AC230 V) or at a public charging station (Mode 3 and CCS2 DC).
Always use the charging cable provided at public charging station or the authentic Honda charging cable, sold separately, to charge the high voltage battery.
|
3WARNING |
|---|
|
Using anything other than a charging cable provided at public charger station or an authentic Honda charging cable could result in smoke or fire, which may kill or seriously hurt you.
Always use the charging cable provided at public charging station or the authentic Honda charging cable, sold separately. |
The high voltage battery charging cable produces electro-magnetic radiation during charging.
|
3WARNING |
|---|
|
The electro-magnetic radiation produced during charging may affect the operation of electronic medical devices, which may kill or seriously hurt you.
Before they charge the high voltage battery, people using electronic medical devices, such as implanted cardiac pacemakers or implanted cardioverter defibrillators, should check with their physician or the manufacturer of the electronic medical device about the effects of charging. |

|
3WARNING |
|---|
|
Using a charging cable that is damaged or modified can cause electrical shock and fire, which can result in serious injury or death.
Never disassemble or modify the charging cable. If the charging cable becomes damaged, stop using it and consult an authorised dealer. |
Do not charge while the charging cable is dusty, dirty, or rusty.
Do not connect the connector and inlet if there is any contamination or foreign object in connector and inlet.
If you find any contamination or foreign object in the connector or inlet, contact your authorised dealer.
Do not charge while the vehicle is covered.
Do not charge while the charging cable is wound up.
Do not crush the charging cable by standing or placing heavy objects on it.
Do not splash or submerge the vehicle or charging cable in water.
If the charging cable or vehicle is submerged in water while you are charging, do not touch the charging cable or the vehicle. Contact your authorised dealer.
Do not subject the charging cable or vehicle to excessive physical shock.
Stop charging immediately if you smell anything unusual or see smoke.
Also follow the additional rules below when charging the high voltage battery with wall outlet (Mode 2 AC230 V).
Charge from an electric outlet that is connected to an electric leakage circuit breaker.
Do not charge if the electric outlet is loose.
Do not charge if the electric outlet is damaged or deformed.
Do not charge while the electric outlet is dusty, dirty, or rusty.
Do not leave the charging cable plugged into the electric outlet after you finish charging.
Do not pull on the cable when you pull out the plug.
Do not move the vehicle when the charging cable is plugged into the electric outlet.
Do not touch the vehicle when there is an increased risk of electric shock (e.g., with wet skin or bare feet) while the vehicle is being charged.
If inspections or repairs are needed, contact your authorised dealer.
|
3WARNING |
|---|
|
Incorrectly charging the high voltage battery could result in electric shock or fire, which may kill or seriously hurt you.
Follow the procedures and instructions described in this manual and instruction manual for charging cable regarding how to charge the high voltage battery. |
Where to Charge
Charge the high voltage battery in the following locations.
Level location where the vehicle is stable.
Well ventilated location that is not damp.
|
Operating temperature for charging:
0 to 40 °C |
When the high voltage battery temperature is below -10 °C or too high, charging is not possible.
Charging outside the recommended temperature range may reduce charging capacity and riding distance.
Charging times will be slower when the high voltage battery temperature is high, such as after riding or in a high-temperature environment, or when temperatures are below 0°C.
Charging Time
For charge time the high voltage battery, confirm the below.
|
Charging with |
Suggested charging time |
|
Mode 2 AC 230 V (10 amp) |
5.5 hours (full charge) |
|
Mode 3 (32 amp) |
2.5 hours (full charge) |
|
CCS2 DC |
30 minutes (80 % charge) |
The suggested full charging time in this table indicates the hours it may likely take for the High Voltage battery to be fully charged with the ambient temperature at 25°C. You can see the remaining time until charging completion on the meter.
Charging time varies depending on conditions, such as the remaining battery level and the ambient temperature.
Precautions when Charging
If you use 230 volt charging cable, make sure to use a dedicated and properly grounded circuit that can supply 10 amps continuously. The 230 volt charging cable draws approximately 10 amps.
Have an electrician inspect the outlet you are using to see if it meets these criteria.
|
3WARNING |
|---|
|
Using a 230 volt wall outlet that is rated less than 10 amps or one that is powering other devices can cause a fire, seriously injuring you or others.
When using the 230 volt charging cable, use a dedicated and properly grounded circuit rated 10 amps or more. Consult an electrician if you are not sure. |
When you plug the AC plug into the electric outlet, be sure to plug it all the way in.
|
3WARNING |
|---|
|
Improper usage and handling of the 230 volt charger can cause a fire, seriously injuring you or others.
Always insert the plug fully into a properly rated and grounded the wall outlet.
Plug the charging cable directly to the wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or multi-plug adapters.
Prevent the vehicle charging connector from becoming contaminated. Clean if necessary. |
Charging the high voltage battery when it is cold results in a low charge.
If the battery is cold, you can recover the charge by charging the high voltage battery while they are warm after you have been riding.
If the vehicle falls over while charging, stop charging immediately.
The charging cable becomes hot during charging, but this is not a problem.
You may hear static on the radio during charging.
Charging stops during a power outage.
For other precautions, refer to the instruction manual for charging cable.
Procedure to Start Charging
There are two ways to charge the high voltage battery; by using a professionally installed AC 230 volt or CCS2 DC charger. Make sure to read the instruction manual for charging cable
